It’s been hard for IPR to think about making porn throughout this past week of social injustice related to the trial of George Zimmerman for the murder of Treyvon Martin, a 17 year old boy. This news echoes thousands more injustices and crimes against people of color around our country, and frankly, it makes what we do here feel so insignificant.
How do we justify what we do as a “revolution” when most people would admit they don’t want to think about murder and racism when they get online to watch porn – what can we do to keep our customers happy and still work towards our goals of creating a more understanding, accepting, and loving society? What we do here is make images, put them out in the world, and hope that those images inspire others to get to know the people around them while doing the job inherent to pornography. We hope that the various political aspects of Indie Porn Revolution (breaking down stereotypes, debunking harmful assumptions, and creating awareness around individual identity politics like sexuality, race, size, and gender) rubs off on you while you, um, rub off, to us.
We hope the time you spend here with us helps you understand and respect people who may be different than you when you meet them on the streets, because maybe, you’ve seen people like them naked, intimate, and raw, here. We hope that when you see an image that closely represents identities of your own, you feel stronger, empowered, and beautiful. And we hope that no matter where you are, you can feel a sense of community while you’re here with us online – a community that fights hate of all kinds and promotes a revolution of positive togetherness.
We would like to inspire you to think about what you can do to prevent more hate crimes like Trayvon Martin’s unjustified death from repeating itself in your own communities – what can you do to make sure this doesn’t happen again?
Cinnamon Maxxine is our scheduled update for today, and as a service to our customers, the porn must go on. We don’t want to take the pleasure away from you and your porn moment – but please, later on today, take the time to think about Trayvon Martin, and how we can keep his brothers and sisters safe from unnecessary violence and injustices, starting today.
Thank You for listening.
Mad Love,
Courtney Trouble
